Offering shelter to victims of domestic violence and abuse
The Hope’s Door Next Step Economic Empowerment Program fosters the economic empowerment and self-sufficiency of survivors of domestic violence. One Hope’s Door donor, Not 4gotten NY, gives program graduates practical items like pots, pans and utensils in a “Kitchen in a Box,” when they move to their own housing. And last month, a generous donor enabled store owner Jennifer Gerkin, of PORCH in Mount Kisco, and our Next Step Economic Empowerment Program Coordinator, Juana Francisco, to work together to also give new, festive kitchen dishes and serving bowls to a graduate of the program, who is starting a new life in her own apartment. We are so grateful to Jeff of Not 4gotten NY and to Jennifer, who, when her client offered the money for someone in need, immediately thought of Hope’s Door. It really does take a Village.”
