Offering shelter to victims of domestic violence and abuse

Hope’s Door Award Winning Season
Hope’s Door is honored to be named 914 Inc Best of Business winner in the Nonprofit category. This award means a great deal to Hope’s Door, especially right now.
Across our community and throughout New York, the need for domestic violence services continues to grow, while organizations working on the front lines are navigating significant challenges to sustaining the resources and capacity survivors depend upon.
More than an accolade, this distinction is a reminder that our community sees the importance of our mission to provide safety, independence and healing to survivors of domestic violence.
Hope’s Door is proud to be recognized alongside the businesses and organizations that help make Westchester stronger. We are grateful to everyone who voted for us, to 914INC. for this recognition, and to the staff, volunteers, partners and supporters who make our work possible every day.
We remain focused on what this recognition represents: a shared commitment to ensuring that survivors have somewhere to turn when they need a path forward. Thank you for standing with Hope’s Door. 💜

914 Inc awarded our Executive Director CarlLa Horton wiht the CEO & Leadership Excellence Spotlight.
When CarlLa Horton took the reins in 1997 at Hope’s Door, a nonprofit devoted to providing safe sanctuary and support to victims of domestic violence, she tapped into her lifelong commitment to advocacy, shaped by early personal experiences with domestic violence, poverty, and systemic inequities. Thanks to Horton’s deep well of expertise in the political, labor, and nonprofit sectors, Hope’s Door has experienced substantial growth; annual revenue increased from $532,000 to $4.8 million, and the number of survivors served annually grew from 205 to more than 1,400.
“I learned early on that speaking truth to power comes with consequences, especially when you don’t yet have much power,” shares Horton.
