Offering shelter to victims of domestic violence and abuse

Join us in congratulating our Executive Director CarlLa Horton who was voted 2025 Keep Westchester Thriving Distinguished Service Award by the Nonprofit Westchester Board of Directors and staff.
The Distinguished Service Award is one of the most prominent awards given to a nonprofit leader. It recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a nonprofit agency leader that has dedicated more than 25 years of service to the nonprofit sector. This award celebrates and recognizes the vital contributions that uplift lives and strengthen communities. It honors a nonprofit leader who addresses community challenges, creates opportunities, and provides outstanding leadership to their agencies. CarlLa Horton leads by example with her passion for our mission and fight to make a better world for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. CarlLa has expanded our reach, strengthened countywide collaboration, and championed a compassionate, coordinated response to domestic and intimate partner violence. This recognition is truly well deserved and we couldn’t be prouder!

We’re also celebrating two of our rising leaders, Shaire Gadson and Shannon Luke, who will graduate from NPW’s Class of 2025 Emerging Leaders Program! After 11 months of learning, site visits, and collaboration across Westchester’s nonprofit sector, they’ll join fellow ELPers in being recognized at this premier celebration of community leadership.
Congratulations to CarlLa, Shaire, and Shannon!
