On Friday October 18, Hope’s Door held our Annual Fall Luncheon, celebrating our new Hope’s Door Legal Center.
In October 2018, Hope’s Door received a $1.9 million dollar federal grant award to launch the Hope’s Door Legal Center in December, 2018. Our attorneys are now providing legal representation for victims of domestic violence. Providing these legal services, in combination with everything else we do, enhances our ability to transform victims into survivors who thrive.
Over 180 people joined us for networking and silent auction, followed by a 12:30 pm panel discussion during a delicious lunch, the highlights of which were a butternut squash risotto and an apple strudel.
Our Director of Legal Services, Stacey Neumann, Esq., moderated an expert panel featuring Michelle Kaminsky, Esq., Author of Reflections of a Domestic Violence Prosecutor: Suggestions for Reform; Amy Slotnick, Esq., APS Law, PC; David M. Ryan, Chief of Police Pound Ridge, NY; Maya Lloyd, Senior Domestic Violence Counselor, Hope’s Door; and Mia Pergolizzi, Esq., Attorney, Hope’s Door Legal Center. The panel discussed a composite case and described their approach and role in the case, highlighting the collaboration among the various organizations working to help victims of domestic abuse.
