The Love Shouldn’t Hurt teen dating abuse awareness, intervention, and prevention program, which includes Students Talking About Relationships (STAR), our teen peer leadership component, has received seven awards:

  • 2001 – Program of the Year from the Westchester Women’s Equality Day Committee.
  • 2002 – Youth Leadership Award from the Westchester Children’s Association.
  • 2004 – Best Mission awarded at the Westchester County Youth Action Convention.
  • 2005 – Best Mission awarded at the Westchester County Youth Action Convention.
  • 2006 – Dedication Award – Youth Action Convention
  • 2007 – Leadership Group of Most Interest – Youth Action Convention
  • 2008 – Leadership Group of Most Interest – Youth Action Convention

Our Staff has received numerous awards:

  • The Pace Women’s Justice Center honored Legal Services Director Beth Feder in 2002 stating “Beth Feder epitomizes the legal ability, domestic violence savvy and generous spirit that defines her service…for so many Family Court Legal Program clients.”
  • The Pace Women’s Justice Center honored Executive Director CarlLa Horton in 2003 describing her as “a true leader in the community response network approach to ending domestic violence.”
  • The Office of the County Executive and the Westchester Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect honored Children’s Counselor Marybeth Munier as a “2005 Unsung Hero” for her “commitment in working to eradicate child abuse and neglect in Westchester County.”
  • The Zonta Club of Westchester named Executive Director CarlLa Horton their 2005 Woman of the Year, describing her as a “world-class activist who has dedicated her career to the support of women in need.”
  • In 2007, The Sunshine Lady Foundation honored Gay French-Ottaviani for her faithful support of women “as they work to establish lives free of violence.”
  • The Zonta Club of New Rochelle presented Executive Director CarlLa Horton with their first annual Zowie Award in October 2008.
  • The Avon Foundation presented Hope’s Door with their Community Advocate Award at their Hope Honors gala in October 2008.
  • In 2009, the 17th International Congress on Group Therapy in Rome invited Gay French-Ottaviani to present her paper on healing the effects of trauma with psychodrama techniques.
  • In 2010, the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Gay French-Ottaviani for her “outstanding dedication and commitment to the Westchester Network.”
  • In 2013, Coco Alvi received a Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation from the American Muslim Women’s Association.
